About the Pocono Raceway

The Pocono Raceway has several features to that set it apart from the rest.  First is the unusual triangular configuration itself. The three turns are not identical, and no legs of the track are the same length. This makes it a challenge for drivers as they whip around the turns at lightning-fast speeds. Second, it has the longest straightaway and widest main street. It also has the longest and widest pit road of any Sprint Cup track. In addition, the Pocono Raceway is one of the only NASCAR tracks not owned by two of the larger companies. Rather, it remains family-owned by the Igdalsky and Mattioli families.

The Pocono Raceway isn’t the biggest or fanciest track, but they aim for “the Pocono PFC” – Pretty, Fun, and Clean. With that goal in mind, they spent $30 million in upgrades such as: a new garage area, a large family-friendly paddock area, a 150-site motorhome park, 1000 new bathroom stalls, and fourteen 40ft Blue Spruces with more than 200 picnic tables and gazebos spread throughout.

About the 2018 Pocono Raceway Schedule

The 2018 Pocono season starts with the Pocono 400 weekend, which kicks off on June 1st and runs through June 3rd. Fans can watch the qualifying runs for ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR XFINITY Series for the first two days. The event leads up to the highly-anticipated Pocono 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on June 3rd.

Next up is the Overton’s 400, which will be July 27-29, 2018.  Again, fans can watch the qualifying runs for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.  However, instead of the NASCAR XFINITY Series, fans can see the qualifying runs for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and ARCA Racing Series.  The 3-day event will culminate with the Overton 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series on Sunday, July 29th.

The third and final event of the season will be the ABC Supply 500, which is from August 18-19, 2018.  The Saturday events include the Verizon IndyCar Series practice and qualifying runs, followed by the Sunday event of the ABC Supply 500 Verizon IndyCar Series race.
