Pocono's annual events give the region its personality long after the suitcases are unpacked. This guide keeps the calendar practical, polished, and just a little festive.
The Poconos may be known for lakes, forests, ski days, and weekend cabins, but its year-round events are a great addition. Each month brings something different, so guests can match a getaway to music, food, fairs, history, or holiday magic.
January and February
January starts boldly with The Polar Plunge at Mauch Chunk Lake. Brave swimmers step into winter water while the rest of us applaud from safer, drier ground. It is funny, spirited, and very Pennsylvania.
February brings Jim Thorpe WinterFest, a weekend that turns the town into a cold-weather stage. Ice carving demonstrations, live music, food vendors, and downtown shops offer visitors plenty to enjoy while sipping warm drinks.
March
Scranton hosts one of Pennsylvania’s largest St. Patrick’s Day parades, drawing big energy and plenty of green. The Chili and Wing Cookoff also gives winter a proper sendoff. Hot plates, bold sauces, and local bragging rights make the season change taste better.
April
The Electric City Tattoo Convention returns to Downtown Scranton for its 15th year, bringing more than 200 tattoo artists together for a weekend of ink, artistry, and creativity.

May
Wilkes-Barre’s Fine Arts Fiesta marks 70 years with four days of music, dance, local talent, and community celebration.
June
The Pocono Mountains Music Festival brings classical performances and respected artists to the region. It suits guests who like their getaway with a polished soundtrack.
Pocono Raceway also hosts one of its annual NASCAR weekends. Race fans get noise, speed, and a full schedule that makes the track feel electric. This is one of the Pocono annual events that changes the mood of the whole region.
July
The Honey and Blueberry Festival celebrates peak harvest season with fresh local berries, golden honey, and blueberry treats. Local apiaries also introduce visitors to beekeeping, which adds a sweet little science lesson.
The Milford Jazz Festival brings three days of music across beautiful Milford venues. Expect intimate jazz brunches, outdoor concerts, and world-class musicians in the heart of the Poconos.
August
The Wayne County Fair has been building memories in Northeastern Pennsylvania for more than 160 years. Visitors can enjoy a paved midway, more than 20 rides, games, roaming entertainment, live music, and fair food.
Agriculture still anchors the event. Harness racing, tractor pulls, truck pulls, pony pulls, and 4-H shows keep the fair rooted.
The West End Fair adds another classic August outing. Food, games, rides, agricultural exhibits, antique tractors and engines, and opening-night fireworks fill the week. Gates open daily at 2 p.m., and paid admission includes a free carousel ride.

September
September gives summer a stylish exit. StroudFest returns as a free, family-friendly festival in Downtown Stroudsburg. Vendors, music, booths, stages, and activity stations fill the sidewalks from 5th to 9th streets.
The Great Pocono Pumpkin Festival starts in the fall with proper flair. Pumpkin picking, games, food, hay rides, a 3D Pumpkin Fun House, and laser tag keep families busy. It is cheerful, slightly over-the-top, and perfectly autumnal.
October
October brings Quiet Valley Harvest Festival, one of the Poconos' annual events that connects visitors with regional history. Heritage craft demonstrations showcase skills common in the 1800s, including candle dipping, scrapple making, tanning, leatherwork, spinning, and weaving.
One-room school presentations, a Civil War encampment, folk entertainment, refreshments, a quilt raffle, and wagon rides round out the festival. It feels hands-on without becoming homework.
December
December closes the year with Hawley Winterfest. The town glows with holiday lights, small-business shopping, craft activities, and seasonal performances. Visitors can enjoy live theater at The Ritz Playhouse, live music in local churches, a live nativity play, and horse-drawn carriage rides.
The weekend often includes craft vendors, an ugly sweater contest, Trees for a Cause, decorating contests, a Beer Tour, and Christmas Tree Express train rides. Special previews begin Friday, while Saturday and Sunday bring the main events.
