About the Pocono Environmental Education Center
The Pocono Environmental Education Center is located within the boundaries of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, a 70,000-acre national park. They are a nonprofit that aims to educate the public about the local environment, sustainable living, and appreciation for nature. The Pocono Environmental Education Center hosts approximately 24,000 people each year. Many of their programs are for school-age children, but there is something here for everyone!
The Pocono Environmental Education Center Hiking Trails
The Pocono Environmental Education Center maintains six distinctly different hiking trails. They vary in length and in degree of difficulty. All are loops that begin and end on the Pocono Environmental Education Center campus.
Before your hike, review the descriptions and download the appropriate trail guide. This guide turns your hike into a self-guided tour with wildlife, landmarks, and other things you might not notice on your own!
All of the hikes are excellent, and many people do more than one in a day. It just depends on your available time and skill level. But we can never say “no” to a hike and a picnic lunch on the Tumbling Waters Trail, PA! Going at a leisurely pace and taking a lunch makes this beautiful, shaded trail a do-able 4-hour roundtrip.
Note: They recommend that winter hikers start their hikes before 2 p.m. This will prevent you from being lost in the dark!
