Wine on the River

Lehighton Downtown Initiative hosts an annual Wine on the River event in May. Gathering at Baer Memorial Park, with wineries, food trucks, crafters, and vendors, this fantastic event features 14 wineries. Relax and unwind with a day of sampling various wines, shopping, listening to music, and more. Participants are asked to bring their lawn chairs… and drink, eat, and listen to music.

Tickets range from $15 to $35, including a complimentary wine glass for taste testing and a custom wine check!

Monroe Farmers Market

Experience the freshness of spring at the Monroe Farmers Market. Open each Saturday until noon, this is a producers-only market with the highest quality produce and hand-made products.

Bike Train

Hop on the Bike Train with your bicycle (or rent one) and enjoy a scenic ride through the Poconos. Leaving Jim Thorpe, the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway snakes along the Lehigh River for 25 miles. At the village of White Haven, you will disembark and begin your bike ride at the Lehigh Gorge trailhead.

Bikers pedal at their own pace along the Lehigh Gorge Rail Trail back to Jim Thorpe. You will find swimming spots, scenic overlooks, and waterfalls along the way. This unique event happens twice during the Poconos in May.

Take a refreshing dip in Lake Wallenpaupack! A favorite swimming spot in the area is the Palmyra Township Public Beach. On-duty lifeguards, picnic tables, grills, restrooms, and even a snack bar are some amenities you can expect. The beach is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
