Don’t Miss These Poconos Waterfalls
As you plan to explore some Poconos hiking trails and waterfalls, here are some gorgeous ones you can’t miss.
1. Bushkill Falls
Often called “The Niagara of Pennsylvania,” Bushkill Falls is one of the most popular scenic destinations in the area. With eight waterfalls and miles of hiking trails on its 300 acres, Bushkill Falls is ripe for exploring.
Four hiking trails circle the falls, and each caters to a different experience/ability level. Beginners/walkers might enjoy the Green Trail, which takes only about 15 minutes to complete. The Red Trail provides a challenging two-hour hike, ideal for more experienced hikers. Bushkill Falls also has lots of different activities for families, as well as with picnic areas, gift shops, and food.
2. Raymondskill Falls
Raymondskill Falls is the tallest waterfall in Pennsylvania, just a few feet shorter than Niagara Falls. This three-tiered cascade is located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The trail to the Raymondskill Falls is short, making it an easy hike. You’ll find two viewing platforms. The lower platform provides a perfect full view of the waterfall. The top platform is a great spot to see the upper pools. We recommend using both platforms to experience the enchanting cascades from different vantage points.
3. Dingmans Falls
Dingmans Falls, the second tallest waterfall in the state, cascades down the mountainside at 130 feet. The trail to the falls winds through beautiful hemlock ravine. It is good for all skill levels. You’ll even pass an 80-foot cascade known as Silverthread Falls on the way! Dingmans Falls is open from May – September.
4. Shohola Falls
Shohola Falls is a popular waterfall and lake accessible by a moderate 0.8-mile loop. Hikers, fishermen, bird-watchers, and nature lovers frequent this area year-round. Come her to admire Shohola’s numerous cascades, deep fishing holes, and steep ledges.
