1. The Mohegan Sun

2. F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts

3. Sporting Events

Hockey games are full of excitement, and you’ll love watching the Pittsburgh Penguins, a minor-league NHL team. Or take yourself out to the ballgame to see the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Railriders. This MILB team was the 2016 Triple-A National Champions!

4. State Parks

Because Wilkes-Barre is located in a mountainous region, state parks are all around it. You’ll have your choice of several excellent state parks: Francis Slocum is a popular destination for fishing, boating, hiking, and mountain biking. Nescopeck State Park is beloved by anglers and hikers, and has an excellent environmental education center. Scenic Ricketts Glen is known for its wildlife and beautiful waterfalls.

5. Skiing

The Shawnee Mountain ski area is great for all skiers, from beginner to expert. You’ll also enjoy night skiing and tubing here! Also check out Montage MountainBear Creek Mountain Resort, and the Jack Frost Ski Resort.

6. Seven Tubs Nature Area

Here, water cascades from a stream into beautiful tubs. This 500-acre park has attracted hikers and visitors for many years. One of the most peaceful and serene places you’ll ever see, a visit to Seven Tubs is a must.
