Spend a Day on These Poconos Hiking Trails

You’ll love spending time in the mountains on these great Poconos hiking trails!

1.Tobyhanna State Park

The ten miles of rugged trails at Tobyhanna State Park make for some excellent hiking. This gorgeous state park includes a 170-acre lake, Tobyhanna Lake, which you can hike around. Their website has a clear and excellent list of the trails and difficulty, so check the degree of difficulty before you head out. Distance from The French Manor: 15 minutes

2. Promised Land State Park

Sitting high above sea level, the 3,000-acre Promised Land State Park offers 50 miles of hiking trails that lead to a variety of scenic spots and overlooks. Guests can follow Bruce Lake Road to a natural glacial lake, or walk an easy loop around Conservation Island. From mid-May until June, the trails burst with blooming mountain laurel and rhododendron, and bushes of blueberries usually ripen in late July. Distance from The French Manor: 15 minutes

3. Bushkill Falls

Known as the “Niagara of Pennsylvania,” the scenic Bushkill Falls is nestled in the woods of the Pocono Mountains. This series of eight waterfalls can be accessed from an expansive network of hiking trails that offer breathtaking views of peaceful streams, deep pools, and blooming wildflowers in the warm spring months. We recommend walking to the Bridal Veil Falls, where three spring-fed waterfalls tumble down the mountainside and create a mist that resembles a bride’s veil. Distance from The French Manor: 45 minutes

4. The Appalachian Trail

Stretching all the way from Georgia to Maine, this historic trail is a must-see when planning a Poconos hiking trip. More than 45 miles of the Appalachian Trail lie in the Poconos region. Sections of this trail can be a little strenuous for hikers, but scenic vistas along the way make it worth the effort! Distance from The French Manor: 50 minutes from the Delaware Water Gap, but there are many places to get on the trail in southern PA.

5. Lehigh Gorge State Park Trail

Following the Lehigh River, this gorgeous trail offers more than 25 miles of scenic beauty, and even some interesting history. Guests can see remnants of the Upper Grand Section of the Lehigh Canal, as well as wildlife. Lehigh Gorge State Park also offers opportunities to whitewater raft, fish, and cross-country ski. After your hike, be sure to visit the nearby quaint town of Jim Thorpe. Distance from The French Manor: 45 minutes

6. Dingmans Falls

Dingmans Falls, the second tallest waterfall in the state, cascades down the mountainside at 130 feet. The trail to the falls winds through beautiful hemlock ravine. It is good for all skill levels. You’ll even pass an 80-foot cascade known as Silverthread Falls on the way! Dingmans Falls is open from May – September. Distance from The French Manor: 45 minutes
