1. Kayak, Canoe, Raft, or Tube the Delaware River

The clear, scenic Delaware River provides refreshing fun for groups, families, and people of all ages. So why not take a break from the heat of summer with a memorable afternoon relaxing on the river? Tubing the Delaware River provides a relaxing experience. Or, for an adrenaline rush, maybe whitewater rafting is more your speed! Companies like Whitewater Rafting, Kittatinny Adventures, Whitewater Rafting Adventures, and more will take you down the river in a variety of ways!

2. Travel the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway

Sitting inside a historic 1917 train car, visitors can enjoy a 70-minute trip on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway. You’ll follow the majestic Lehigh River into Lehigh Gorge State Park for spectacular views of cliffs, mountains, waterfalls, and wildlife right outside your window. The railway operates on weekends, holidays, and select weekdays during the summer and also offers several special events throughout the year, including annual leaf-peeping excursions in the fall.

3. Explore the Refreshing Outdoors

Whether you’re interested in hiking, camping, boating, or just hanging out, Pennsylvania state parks will provide the outlet you need! Here are four hiking trails we know you’ll love, with something to challenge everyone. You might also be interested in checking out some of the spectacular mountain waterfalls. If state park camping is what you’re after, there’s no shortage of opportunities there as well. Also, check out what Promised Land State Park, Hickory Run State Park, and the George W. Childs Recreation Area each offer.

4. Make a Splash at Kalahari Water Park

A trip to Kalahari Water Park is one of the most popular things to do in the Poconos in the summer and is perfect for kids, adults, and everyone in between. The park features 100,000 square feet with an outdoor pool, whirlpool spas, water slides, a lazy river, and more. Let the little ones splash around in the children’s area while you relax and unwind in a private cabana, or cool off in the giant 50,000-gallon wave pool.
